What are Inguinal Hernias?

Inguinal hernias are bulges in the groin along a natural area of weakness typically in the male groin. These typically cause pain with lifting or straining the abdominal wall. They can progress to larger sizes that can entrap bowel and bulge into the scrotum.

The Robotic Advantage:

Robotic surgery has revolutionized treatment of inguinal hernias. Open inguinal hernia repair has a minimum 6 week recovery period. Patients undergoing robotic inguinal hernia repair typically feel back to normal at 2 weeks, and at that time start increasing activity to their normal level over the next week. This is facilitated by Dr. Johnson’s ability to sew the bowel connection robotically.
