What is Robotic Surgery?
Robotic surgery is an evolution of standard minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery utilizing 3-4 keyhole incisions, inserting robotic instruments into the body. These instruments are directly controlled 100% of the time by the operating robotic surgeon, Benjamin Johnson, MD.
Dr. Johnson utilizes the latest 4th generation DaVinci Xi surgical robot to perform complex surgeries with 3D-HD vision and greater precision, control, and efficiency compared to laparoscopic surgery.
Nearly all surgeries, even if previously thought to require open surgery, are now possible with 3 or 4 tiny incisions leading to:
- Faster recovery times and less time off work
- Less pain, less narcotic use, less blood loss
- Better Cosmesis with small and hidden incisions
- Lower complication rate
- Less conversions to open surgery
- Happier patients
Robotic Surgeons and patient outcomes are not all the same. Dr. Johnson keeps close data on outcomes which are superior to national and local averages. Cosmetic outcomes are also a focus for some patients in which incisions can be hidden completely in appropriate cases.
